Hawaii - Day 6

The garden here at the Marriott is beautiful. One of the main attractions in the garden is the Koi pond. Each morning at 9:00 they come out and feed the Koi. Today we hung around to see them feed the fish. It was pretty interesting as it got closer to 9:00, the fish started becoming more and more active. When the guy that feeds them just walked up to the pond they all went crazy jumping and splashing around. They gave guests small cups of food that you could throw in the water. It was all i could do not to push the small kid in front of me into the water to see what might happen if a small child fell into the feeding frenzy. Just kidding (not really).

This is just a quarter of the fish in the pond.

We then decided to head out and see some of the waterfalls that Kauai has to offer. We went to Wailua Falls. This is where they filmed the opening scene to Fantasy Island.
"Boss, Boss.... Da Plane, Da Plane"

After that we drove down to Spouting horn. This was a great place where a blow hole shoots water over 50 feet in the air.
Legend states that this coast was guarded by a large mo'o (lizard) who ate everyone who tried to fish or swim here. One day, a man named Liko entered the water. When the mo'o went to attack him, he swam under the lava shelf and escaped through the hole. The mo'o became stuck and was never able to get out. The groaning is the cry of hunger and pain from the lizard still trapped under the rocks.

From Spouting Horn there were some huge turtles swimming around.

Janie met a friend in Poi'pu. It was so funny when his dog licked his face!! They laughed and laughed.

After that we went back to the hotel and went swimming in the pool and sat by the beach for the afternoon.
